Peppered Bacon and Pineapple Basil Sicilian Pizza

I thought maybe if I combined it with basil and turned it into a drizzle that we could skip all the pineapple debate. Not sure it worked, but I am sure this pizza is bomb. Big flavor with the roasted garlic cream and then a fresh acidic drizzle to cut through the rich and peppery bacon. If it sounds like you may like this pizza then, trust me, you’ll love it.

Ingredients

Steps

1. Prepare and stretch dough as described in the Simple Sicilian Dough Recipe.

2. Lay down the mozzarella like below.

3. Prepare the roasted garlic cream sauce as described in this recipe and spread it around evenly. Leave a little bit of room for a crust to form.

4. Lay down the bacon. Remember, this pizza will bake for about 15 minutes so, yes, the bacon can go on raw. Also keep in mind the bacon will shrink so don’t be skimpy. In fact, never be skimpy with bacon. Ever.

5. Crack some pepper over the top. Using peppered bacon works too, but typically the pepper is only on the edges. We want it all over.

6. Bake or convect bake at 500F. My pizzas are baked for roughly 16 minutes in an electric home oven on convect at 500F.

7. And now, the finisher! Hit it with that pineapple-basil drizzle and you’re done. Just don’t forget to tag @forzapizza in all your pizza-making pics!
